Upcycled Wine Bottles

Have you ever wondered what to do with left over wine bottles (besides recycle them?)? Well, I have the perfect solution--modge podge and old magazines!

Here are some pictures of my solution to creating something fun for the house (and for great gifts!).

1. Here are the supplies you'll need:
-used wine bottles
-modge podge (I've used both matte and glossy--I tend to like the matte finish better)
-old magazines (I have an array of old Living, Domino, and Architectural Digest mags that work great)
-foam brushes
-scissors
-working space

2. Cut out pics/designs/words (whatever you like) from your magazines. I always try to use a "theme." For this bottle I chose to do a flower theme.

3. Once you have the pictures cut out and your space all set up (I usually use the kitchen table...excuse the mess!), you're ready to begin your project! I like to work my way toward the center of the bottle. I usually modge the top first and then the bottom.

4. Once I finish placing all of your cut outs on the bottle, I like to give the entire bottle a good thick coating of modge podge. Then, let it dry (doesn't take too long), and viola you're finished!

I like to "dress" up the bottles by adding bows, flowers, etc. These make perfect touches for gifts as well.

  1. First, welcome to the blogging world! I love this idea! Quite festive, very easy....and the bow sets it off so nicely.
